Roam Studio - Big Update
The latest version of Roam Studio brings masonry mode, mobile enhancements, customizations of page links and tags as well as various bug fixes to your Roam Research graph.
Hej,
the latest update of my Roam Studio plugin for Roam Research brings a lot of new features and fixes the bugs you found during the last week.
Masonry Mode
The Masonry Mode enhanced the right sidebar of Roam, especially on large screens. Instead of just having one column, the content will be put as cards on a large canvas. The cards can be moved, resized, and collapsed as you need them.
Thanks to GitMurf and Abhay Prasanna for doing all the hard work for this module and making my job much easier.
Mobile Sidebar
The right sidebar isn’t very useful on small devices like mobile phones. Tomáš Baránek had the great idea of putting the sidebar content below the main content instead of on the right.
Page Link and Tag Styling
One of the most requested features was the ability to customize the page links and tags. Now you can change various options:
Mobile Enhancements
Another request by Tomáš Baránek was about setting different base font sizes on desktop and mobile, which is now available in the Settings.
Various Bug Fixes
This release fixes some small issues you reported during the last ten days:
Added color for .cmt-labelName in codeblocks
Fixed small issues within the settings (highlighting a setting, tab bar on mobile, plugin background, search field border)
Fixed h1 heading font on the right sidebar
Fixed query padding
Fixed block hover information
Fixed toast message color
And this is still just the beginning.
Remember: The system is highly flexible, with more than 2,000 attributes for around 500 UI elements. Psssst 🤫, you can already use them if you aren’t afraid to get your hands dirty.
I’ll focus on new themes for Roam Studio in the following weeks; Craft will be first.
If you have any questions or suggestions, please leave a comment or file an issue.
Thanks for this excellent work, I’m a grateful user. One feature I would LOVE is to assign an uploaded key photo to a page that either remains pinned to the top of the page or appears as a banner (with fully adjustable proportions). Crucially, I’d love to be able to show/hide this image elsewhere in the graph when the page is mention - especially query results or Kanban boards - so it becomes a bit like Trello or Notion etc in that respect. Please build this! The current banner plug-in in Roam Depot is too limited because it has to ref a URL of an image hosted elsewhere. Also it is limited by the sizing/proportions that it allows as images are other overly cropped to be used as banners (which doesn’t suit many images), or full the entire screen if the height is increased in order to see the main content of the image. Both options are pretty pointless for my use case.
