Can I make this a native block view option

Block views has been hidden/unannounced because we never got CSS right

This deserves a type of its own

I think this would be tremendous for displaying highlights/notes that get imported from, for example, Readwise. Highlights as main block, and for the ones that have my note attached display them as side note. Will have to play around with that.

I have just tried this, and even doing it manually gives very satisfying results. Highlighted text as main block. My personal note as well as a link to the original location in the document as side note. The open question is if this can be done automatically this way on export from Readwise to Roam?

I'm having trouble triggering "side" in "Change Block View".

"Ctrl + p" works. The menu pops up. But when I type "s" the menu collapses and nothing happens.

Is it work in Windows?

Do you have an indented block below that block in which you trigger the side view? The indented block will be the side note not the one where you trigger it.

Yes, the blog itself and the indented blog below it is created.

I've tried diverse ways. Ran the command when the cursor was in the main blog, when the cursor was in the blog below. In both cases, nothing works.

The menu pops up after the key combination, but after pressing the "s" key, the menu disappears and nothing changes.

Can you check if this page is working https://roamresearch.com/#/app/Tufte/page/daW5t-V-W

I can see a perfectly formatted page in the Tufte Sidenotes style. But I can't call "Change block view" on this page and try this function accordingly.

I also changed my browser to Microsoft Edge (I'm in Chrome), but nothing has changed.

Try selecting "Change Block View" with the cursor keys instead of the mouse. Looks like sometimes the focus will change and the view will not applied when using the mouse.

I'm struggling a little. It seems to work in some blocks, but it pushes the contents of the block into the side notes, rather than moving there to make a new notes. And sometimes nothing happens at all.

This is how it works:

- Change the Block view to side on the block you want to be on the LEFT side.

- Indent a block below this to create the side note to the RIGHT.

If you want to leave the side note, just presst enter twice.

Does this help?
